Carien - Moves Forward

Hoi! My name is Carien, I started working here in March and really enjoy it. I live close by in Disteldorp, so I can walk to the office. I am a freelance Innovation manager, who is good at ecosystem mapping, value propositions and building products from 0 to 1. I think holistic, work best in teams and like to make my hands dirty and do the work. I am currently in a project for Techleap mapping out the support ecosystem for founders in the Netherlands, next to that I coach startups with market research. I joined together with my brother Bas, who I help with Bikeflix.nl, it's fun working together! You can find me here on Mondays and Wednesdays some other days :).  In my spare time I enjoy cooking, hanging out with friends and I have some projects like renovating my 100-year old boat (see photo). I hope to offer you a ride soon!

Mijn naam is Mathilde en ik ben samen met mijn collega's van The Investigative Desk nieuw in A Lab. 

The Investigative Desk is een collectief van gespecialiseerde onderzoeksjournalisten. We richten ons op de bedrijfstakken defensie & veiligheid, energie, voeding, farmacie & gezondheid, en tabak. Onze missie is het journalistiek onderzoeken hoe de macht in het (grote) bedrijfsleven, overheden en andere instituties functioneert, en hierover grondige verhalen produceren. Hiermee hopen we het publieke debat te stimuleren en – indien mogelijk – de aanzet te geven voor het hervormen van onrechtvaardige en illegale praktijken en andere misstanden. Onze verhalen worden o.a. gepubliceerd in NRC, Vrij Nederland en Follow The Money, maar ook in internationale media als Le Monde, Knack en Kiev Independent.

Donderdag is onze vaste redactiedag, dan zijn we met ongeveer tien mensen aanwezig. Op de overige dagen kun je een paar van ons tegenkomen in het work hotel. Wil je onze verhalen lezen of ben je benieuwd naar wie er allemaal in ons team zit? Neem dan een kijkje op onze website.

Hiroki - Studio Kihlo

Hi, my name is Hiroki (Studio Kihlo) and I'm a filmmaker and concept designer from Japan. I'm thrilled to be a part of this talented and creative community. In addition to commissioned projects, I work on personal projects that explore how existing, emerging, and speculative technologies can transform everyday life in the future or alternative worlds. I'm particularly interested in the blurred boundaries between reality and fiction in mundane, daily events. For my commissioned work, I specialize in directing short films, music videos, TV commercials, and branded content. I'm passionate about pushing creative boundaries and seeking new ways to tell stories through film. I'm excited to collaborate with all of you to create something unique and inspiring.

Sophie Ansems

Ik ben Sophie Ansems en ik ben PhD-student aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, maar woonachtig in Amsterdam. Ik was wel klaar met thuiswerken, dus vandaar dat ik bij A-Lab terecht ben gekomen!

Mijn onderzoek gaat over hoe we de huisartsenzorg voor kinderen met chronische buikpijn en/of diarree kunnen verbeteren. Ik zit nu in mijn laatste jaar van mijn promotieonderzoek dus ik ben vooral druk met het schrijven van mijn artikelen en proefschrift.
