Dressed out in the prettiest, weirdest, greenest, driest and most surprising outfits, everyone gathered in the stairwell for the annual group photo. Because yes, now everyone still looked great. After that, the spectacle began. Teams of four competed in a course full of flying rings, obstacles, company rounds and surprises. Bonus points, penalty time, chaos and lots of fun.
The annual swimming competition isn't exactly a competition where you can win the best prizes at speed. The forest nymphs won the creativity award with their magical outfit. The Maritim Dolphins and Maritim Sharks showed some amazing teamwork (not just today, by the way)! And The Life Aquatic team was the fastest.
Of course, there was also a poodle prize, which went to the Gele Hessies, who not only took the longest, but were also the most frequently hit by laser guns and managed to catch ZERO rings (on time). The improvisation prize went to Lucas as he pulled something appropriate out of the costume box just in time. Neighbor Richard and Els received a medal, although no one really understood why. Jip got a thumbs up because she was the only duo swimming. And Guy was rewarded with a medal and a copy-subscription for his active contribution to our neighborhood!
Yet, no thunderstorms to be found and the sun showed its sunniest side for a while. And as dry artificial swimming turned out to be quite hard work, the participants needed to cool off a bit. So yes, a few brave members and neighbours divead into the water outside after all.
We ended with a festive dinner prepared by Nini Meis and a boat trip across the Amsterdam canals with our neighbors from Hop On Hopoff. The MOK tour (The Museum of Unintentional Art) completed the evening. Our 12th birthday party turned out to be wet and unforgettable! Here's to more years of creativity, collaboration and leaps of faith!
