Founded in May 2024, this sextet explores the boundaries between the musical languages of jazz, classical music, folk, and free improvisation. The group is based in Amsterdam and primarily active there. They recently released their debut album.
The album, Vulnerability Portraits, consists of compositions that emerged from duo improvisation sessions with each band member. Each piece is based on two shared memories of vulnerability, which were translated into the improvisational interplay between different duos within the ensemble. During the creative process, elements from these memories were converted into musical parameters that served as a guide for the improvisations. One composition is dedicated to each band member, complemented by two independently written works.
