Did you know that Overhoeks is the oldest part of Amsterdam-Noord? And that the gallows field of Amsterdam lay right behind Eye? Verhaalpaal Noord is an open-air exhibition about the unknown history of Amsterdam-Noord that can be visited 24 hours a day. At 6 locations, the story poles mark important events or stories in history.
Join us in celebrating the opening of Verhaalpaal Noord, an open-air exhibition about the history of Amsterdam-Noord, which will be on display at Overhoeks for a year. On March 27 at 17:00 you are welcome to visit A Lab for the official opening, reserve your spot here.
ABOUT VERHAALPAAL NOORD
Changing District
Verhaalpaal Noord is a project by creative agency Zeppa in collaboration with the writer Bas Kok. From our studio on the former Shell site, we see North changing rapidly. Noord was the district of crafts and industry. Now it is a district where the creative sector still finds space. With the six story displays, we show that the district has undergone a lot of change over the centuries and that it is constantly reinventing itself.
One year to see
Verhaalpaal Noord will be on display for one year. If it is a success, we want to create a permanent open-air exhibition about the history of Amsterdam-Noord. From a rough work area to a creative area of innovation. Noord has reason to be proud of its past and present!
With accompanying book
In addition to the content for the story poles, Bas Kok wrote the accompanying book: Gogme, how Amsterdam became a global city. This accessible book about Amsterdam is written from the perspective of Amsterdam North. So you can dive even deeper into the stories.
