At A Lab you can combine room rental, high-quality catering, technical facilities, and personal support in one creative location. Situated on the IJ in Amsterdam North, it is very centrally located just 5 minutes from Amsterdam Central Station.
With us, you can combine creative event and meeting spaces with high-quality catering from our in-house Café de Schelp. Since 2013, the former Shell laboratory has been a breeding ground where curiosity, experimentation, and cross-pollination are encouraged. Your event will take place amidst the energy of creative pioneers working toward a positive future at the intersection of art & culture, sustainability, and social impact.
From 4 to 130 people
A Lab offers various creative event and meeting spaces: from meeting rooms for 4 people to workshop and event spaces for up to 130 people. Depending on your program, various room configurations are possible, and you can make use of break-out rooms. From tables and chairs in a theater setup to beanbags and creative seating areas. Many rooms also feature their own bar. It is also possible to use a combination of different spaces.
The spaces are suitable for, among other things, workshops, presentations, conferences, exhibitions, training sessions, networking drinks, film screenings, performances, and concerts.
Technical facilities for your event
Our spaces are equipped with various technical and audiovisual facilities for things like presentations, workshops, film screenings, conferences, and other events. The A Lab team is happy to help you think through the right setup and technical possibilities in advance. For specific requirements we don't have in-house, we work with our regular technical partner to make your event possible.
Catering by Café de Schelp
The catering is largely vegetarian and can be tailored to the type of meeting and the number of guests. Whether you choose coffee service, a lunch with sandwiches and/or hot dishes, drinks, or dinner, everything is prepared with fresh ingredients and a love for food by Sven and Anna.
A creative team that thinks along with you
At A Lab, you don't just rent a space. Our team is ready to help you think about how to best organize your event. Nothing is too much trouble. From choosing the right room and layout to catering, technology, or breakout options: together, we look at what fits your plans.
What makes the location extra special is the historic building and the creative community of more than 350 impact makers. For your event, this means you can also involve photographers, videographers, interior architects, musical performers, or keynote speakers . This way, you can not only arrange the space and catering but also bring together additional elements of your event in one place.
You can rent a meeting room starting from €25 per hour. The Playground, our largest space, can be booked for €195 per hour. A Lab members receive a 50% discount, and special impact discounts are sometimes available for cultural and social initiatives.
